Teacher of the Month
Kevin Porter (4 nominations)
Kevin has great rapport with his students. His seniors have shown amazing improvements over the last 4 years. Kevin is a great support for other teachers. I have learned from Kevin on different strategies to work with students who have a more difficult time in school. students. He is a good resource for teachers to learn more about working with diverse students.
Kevin is always going above and beyond to assist his students. He works well with his fellow teachers and embodies the true spirit of the Southern Tornadoes.
Kevin's ability to work with students who are struggling is amazing. He finds a way to get them motivated and move on with their work. I have witnessed Kevin transform unmotivated freshmen into caring seniors in 4 years. He gains students' trust by being honest with them. I have learned a lot about how to work with challenging students by observing his teaching.
Mr. Porter is a great teacher that shows dedication to his students because wants to see them advance academically and personally. Mr. Porter has the ability to motivate and encourage students to advance beyond their expectation. He utilizes teaching methods that inspire students to learn while having fun. Not only does Mr. Porter do a wonderful job teaching his students, he goes above and beyond caring about them and whatever they may be going through. He is very well respected by his students and his co workers and is very deserving of this award.
For clarification, Mrs. McNickle and Mr. Otto are not changing careers. They are still in costume from tonight's Math and Science Expo. Which was a great event and we appreciate all the student, staff, and community support!
