RACINE, OHIO- The Southern Local School District has received a generous donation of $500, made possible by a public relations firm based in Columbus.

In recognition of its 20th anniversary, Irvin Public Relations sought nominations from the public to identify deserving non-profit organizations and initiatives to support. After a thorough evaluation of the numerous submissions received, Southern High School Principal Daniel Otto and Southern Elementary Principal Tricia McNickle were selected for their exemplary dedication to student welfare and contributions beyond their formal responsibilities.

Sarah Irvin, Founder and President of Irvin Public Relations, has more than 30 years of experience in enhancing community-centered initiatives through her professional public relations work. Irvin is humbled by the company’s success over 20 years and is compelled to give back to the community that gave so much to her and her company.

She noted that community members who nominated the principals conveyed overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the significant impact they have on their students and the community.

“Nothing makes me happier than helping however I can – whether it is as simple as bringing joy to any interaction to connecting people to helping out financially where we are able," Irvin shared. "A Bible verse says, ‘To whom much is given, much is required.' I love that and try to put those words into action.”

In one nomination, a community member remarked, “Their [Mr. Otto and Mrs. McNickle] unwavering commitment to the well-being of their students is exemplary. Day in and day out, they invest substantial time, energy, and resources to ensure that each child is not only adequately nourished and appropriately clothed but also surrounded by a nurturing environment that fosters growth and learning.”

The principals conveyed profound gratitude for the nominations and the generous donation.

"The generosity is immensely valuable to us and to the students and community we serve," stated Mr. Otto. "We reside in a very caring community. We strive to set a positive example and encourage our students to assist others through various projects and community service initiatives. Mrs. McNickle and I are just two people among many others who have the best interest of students in mind. Thank you for supporting our students.”

"I know there are a lot of worthy causes, thank you for supporting our students," Mrs. McNickle remarked. "Mr. Otto and I have served as principals for many years, and we consistently try to respond to the needs of our students."

The leadership team is currently formulating a plan for the utilization of the donation to benefit students.
