Racine, Ohio: Southern Locals Board of Education recognized outstanding students and staff at tonight's meeting through their STORM student, Student of the Month, and Teacher/Staff Member of the Month programs. Southern Elementary STORM Students of the Month
Kane Marcinko - 1st Grade - Nominated by Leslie Dunfee
Kane comes to school with a positive personality, ready to take charge and learn. He is a very good friend and respectful to his peers and teachers. He cares so much for his classmates and always works to help them in any way he can. He shows respect to his teachers by listening and following directions. Kane is kind and funny, making a positive difference in his classroom daily. In the past three years, Kane has accomplished tremendous growth and success in the classroom. He is a STORM Student through and through.
Kendra Smith - 6th Grade - Nominated by Katie Ash
Kendra is one of the sweetest students at our school. She is kind to everyone, and is always respectful. Through adversity, Kendra works hard in the classroom. Kendra has made progress in the classroom by trying her hardest and always giving the most effort. She is highly motivated to succeed and isn’t afraid of hard work. Outside the classroom, Kendra is a model STORM student. She helps others, respects her teachers, and is a friend to everyone. She is a loyal friend and is trusted among her peers. She is the definition of a STORM Student.
Jr./Sr. High Students of the Month
Joslyn Hupp - 9th Grade - Nominated by Kayte Manuel
Joslyn deserves to be Student of the Month because she consistently has a positive attitude, good manners, and a willingness to help anyone. Her positive attitude uplifts those around her, which makes her a valuable student and classmate. Joslyn comes into the classroom almost every day to share something new that she learned the night before that relates to what we have been learning. She is very dedicated to her studies and always gives everything her best effort. Joslyn is the type of student that every teacher enjoys having in their classroom.
Chloe Riffle - 12th Grade - Nominated by Beth Lanning
Chloe consistently brings a positive attitude to our school community, greeting others with a smile and demonstrating a willingness to assist her peers. Her dedication is evident through her hard work in various areas, particularly during labor-intensive tasks such as cleaning up after lunch. Chloe played a vital role in supporting the Junior High Career Showcase by preparing drinks and sweets, showcasing her teamwork and commitment to school events. Her efforts not only enhance our school environment but also promote a sense of community among students and staff alike. Chloe embodies admirable qualities, making her exceptionally deserving of this recognition.

Jodi Fisher - Preschool Paraprofessional
Jodi has an exceptional dedication to our students’ well-being and education, which she shows through her love and compassion for them. She consistently goes above and beyond her duties, provides personalized support to students of all abilities, and creates a positive and inclusive learning environment. Jodi’s positive attitude and willingness to help have a significant impact on our students’ engagement and achievement. Jodi is dedicated and dependable in the classroom. She is always willing to help in any way that will help the classroom run smoothly. Jodi is an incredible asset to our school and we are blessed to have her. Being her friend and working with her daily brings a positive light to your life. We are very lucky to have her on our team at Southern Local.

Meg Guinther - Literacy Coach
Meg is the type of teacher that you are excited to work with. She pushes her coworkers professionally and makes the work day more enjoyable. She models how to be a productive part of a team, works hard to help her students make great learning strides, and shares a passion for the work that is nothing less than inspiring. You will never meet someone who is more caring, kind-hearted, and supportive than Meg. She is someone you are proud to consider a friend, as well as someone to look up to. Many Southern Local teachers have had the opportunity to be mentored by Meg, and are better off for it. She has played such an important role in the lives of countless educators and students alike. Meg is, without a doubt, one of the biggest assets to our district. We are so lucky to know and learn from Meg Guinther.
