POMEROY, OH- On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Sophomores from Southern High School had the opportunity to explore the Career Technical Education programs at Meigs High School.
The day began with a warm welcome from CTE students from all three Meigs County high schools.
The SHS students were then taken to the cafeteria. MHS Career Coach Amy Perrin and Guidance Counselors Denise Arnold and Abby Harris spoke about the various programs available. They include Auto, Welding, Criminal Justice, Cosmetology, Health Technology, Business & Administrative Services, Information Technology (IT), Interactive Media (Graphic Design), Agriculture Programs, and Animal Science & Plant and Horticulture.
The SHS students were then split into groups to learn more about the CTE programs they were interested in.
Southern High School would like to extend its gratitude to MHS Principal Mike Chancey for providing this great opportunity to SHS students. Thank you to CTE teachers, staff, and student volunteers who made the experience valuable. Lastly, thanks to SHS's Counselor Russ Fields, English teacher Brian Allen, Intervention staff member Gary Kapp, and SHS Career Coach Beth Lanning for supervising the students.
